Before using Seamless.AI

  • Blake never had any experience selling in SaaS prior to joining Seamless.AI
  • He sold for several industries, including corporate partnerships, insurance, and even textbooks!

After using Seamless.AI

  • At the time of Blake's interview, he was on pace for 130% of quota.
  • Blake was able to generate $2+ Million between 2017-2019.
  • Due to Blake's hard work, he was also able to reward himself with his dream car, an Aston Martin V12.

Blake is the Director of Sales at Seamless. Throughout his career he's always liked closing deals, and helping people out.

15 years ago, he did a google search for Ohio University Entrepreneurship and found Brandon Bornancin's name as the CEO and Founder of Collegiate Entrepreneurs Organization.

He sent him an email saying that he was looking to recruit an intern. Then, they met at a college hall and he knew that he would be going places, and that he was something special.

At the time, Blake was selling corporate partnerships for event properties, such as Coke and Verizon. But he did not enjoy it, because wanted to have more control over his own destiny as a Salesperson.

He didn't like the fact that he had to put together extremely massive deals with so many steps, just to land a sale. Instead, he wanted to get on a one-on-one basis with someone, learn what they needed, and get the deal done. So that grew to become more of his style.

While working in Insurance, he had a critical moment in his career personally and professionally. he was doing really well! Closing new customers left and right.

However, he wasn't feeling so great about the product he was selling, and so he didn't feel good about himself as a result of that.

As a result, he put sales on hold, quit his job, then moved to Vegas to play poker full-time.

He treated poker like a business. Buying low, selling high, and he did it well. But he wasn't getting the outlet and passion for sales and people out of being around a poker table. So he decided to stop playing poker, and got into the textbook business.

Textbook sales met his needs because it gave him that face-to-face interaction that he wanted, while also allowing him to travel to different college campuses around the country.

Then one day, when Blake decided that he wanted to get back into insurance sales, he was just hours away from taking a state exam for insurance...

I'll never forget it. It was like two and a half years ago, I'm at my kitchen table. And I am hours away from taking the state exam again for insurance just cause I needed a job with good income. And I get a text saying "we need to talk right now!" this is at 11:00 AM.

At the time, he didn't know a thing about SaaS or tech. But they had a great 30 minute conversation, and so the next day, Blake shows up to work at 6:45 AM in the morning, and got straight to work.

Results

Since joining Seamless 2 and a half years ago, he was able to generate up to $2M.

When he first started at the company, they were only selling low cost, month-to-month licenses and they were still able to get to $1M pretty quick.

Now, they're north of quota and on pace for about 130% of quota this year.

He also expects to get into the 8 figure club by next year.

Though even when his life has changed drastically financially, he's never really been in pursuit of the financial rewards, but rather his sense of purpose. Even so, he was able to reward himself with his dream car, the Aston Martin V12.

You have to wake up like with a purpose and a goal more than a number. It's like, what is that number going to do for you? Like what do you really want? What do you really want to accomplish? Where do you want to go? What do you want to do for your family? These are the goals that drive us. So a lot of people are just waking up to get a paycheck or waking up to hit a number in sales. That's not passion, that's not real purpose. So you've got to have a real direction for what you're doing, why you're doing it, and where you're going.
